I went to John Harvard's with my aunt tonight. I had about five or six of these over the course of around three hours.

Appearance: Pours a hazy golden with a fluffy, white head that quickly dissipates leaving sparse lace.

Smell: Fruity and spicy. The peppery and coriander aromas are quite high.

Taste: Fruity and spicy. I caught notes of bananas, pears and tart apple, as well as a strong peppery spiciness and a nice yeasty flavor. There's also a nice grainy and citric undercurrent.

Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied, with tingly carbonation.

Drinkability : Very drinkable. I easily had at least five.

Overall: A solid witbier. One I'd definitely have again.

Shared one with my father on 4/10/2006. Not sure how many ounces the pour was at the Harvard Square location – hadn’t seen the stemmed goblet before that they were using to serve it in.

Told it was a Belgian wit by the bartender, but it seemed darker than the average wit. Very thin swirl of initial head at the rounded top that dissipated gradually, leaving only the finest lace on the glass’s side. As mentioned, the hue was a bit darker than the average wit, a medium golden color, very cloudy, but with a fair amount of carbonation present on the edges, and likely inside too. Lemon/orange citrus notes on the nose, some cloves, and a nice apple jack sweetness that clicks in towards the end. Nice, grassy sweetness cuts off quickly to taste, with a lingering tart touch that balances things out. Lemongrass and granny smith apple fights for control over this one. Quite crisp.

Liked this one a lot, and would happily have another.
