Had this on cask at John Harvard's in Lake Grove. Beer was a dark opaque black with a nice tan head.
Smell was a mixture between fruit and coffee. Not a bad mixture.
The taste was much more hop than malt. Unfortunately it wasn't a little more balanced, because this beer definitely has potential. It was also very thin, which made it feel more like an IPA than a stout. Mouthfeel was crisp though, and it finished smooth.
Overall not quite as good as I was hoping, but it was still a very drinkable beer that I would have again.

Poured a pure black hue with a two finger creamy tan head. There was very good retention and lacing.
The smell was upfront citrus hop. There was a mild toasted malt aroma as well.
The taste was very well balanced. A good resiny hop was countered by a grainy toasted malt. Mild coffee flavor. There could have been a bit more malt in my opinion.
The mouthfeel was creamy, but a bit in the thin side.
Overall a nice hoppy American stout. The brewer describes it as a hybrid consisting of the grain bill of their 7 Grain Stout and the hop bill of their IPA. A heavier malt bill would make this beer truly extraordinary. However, in its current state the grain bill was far too subdued. This beer should be reintroduced as an ESB.

Another great beer from Pittsburgh's most overlooked brewpub at least the have a great local following out there in Monroeville. Appears dark cola hued with brown ruby highlights has a nicely formed tan moccha head leaves behind nice lacing. Aromatics contain dark chocolate and coffee tones amongst the dark roasted malt character is a rush of Cascades very nice hoppy stout one of the five I had samplers of that I would rush to for a whole pint. Flavor contains more strong coffee notes with a touch of roasted nut complement the creamy dark chocolate tones again ample bitterness and finishes herbal, citrus, and floral in the hop department, nice. Mouthfeel is medium to fuller bodied cream textured evenly carbonated. Drinkability like I said a few pints of this one would be welcomed anyday great dark beer here.
