This beer came a pale, foggy, glowing strawberry that faded to amber near the edges of the pint. The head consisted of only specks of white around the rim.
Smells powerfully of smoky peat (a little like Band-Aids) with some red licorice and catsup? Theres also a slight brown sugar sweetness.
This one seems to be based on an easy, simple barley, a little honey and strawberry that picks up just a little dry tingle but is blown away by an awesome green grape skin and a nice peat (delightfully smoky) that really lingers on into the finish and is amplified by an exhale through the nose.
The mouth feel is medium bodied with a substantial, fine carbonation.
This tastes better than it smells. I also really loved the peat in this one. Reminded me of Black Cuillin.

This is from an aged, 21 month old keg that John was holding on to for the sake of mellowing out the insane amount of smokiness.
Appears a dark, hazy amber with a small off white head that slowly fades out into a mild cap and collar. Streaks of lacing is left around the glass.
Smell is of smoked peat, tons of caramel, melted toffee candy, with a nod to the aged characteristic of this brew.
Taste is of the same aromas. If there were ever any fruity aspects to this beer, it has diminished with the development of the smoked, and caramel flavors.
Mouthfeel is smooth, melted caramels, and toffees, with a smokiness that lingers.

Goodness. What a surprise. This beer was sold as a 21-month old Scotch Ale. Either I was misunderstanding what beer I was served or this beer is simply not what I was expecting.
Appearance: Served a brown garnet hue.
Smell: Oh my! Very smoked, peaty, campfire aroma.
Taste: Is this a Scotch ale or a Rauchbier? Maybe I don't know a true Scotch Ale but I was expecting a SkullSpliter from Orkney or a Belhaven or a Scotch Silly. This was more of a Cinderbock from Heavyweight. I liked the flavor but I surprised by the strong smoked peat flavor. It was hard to get pate that flavor to find the subtle fruits zippy spices and bread flavors.
Drinkability: Interesting brew. One is nice but sharing this with froggyfrog was enough for me.
Hope this is helpful.
Cheers!
