Appears black with a small, light, tan head that slowly fades out. Scattered lace is left around the glass.
Smell is of roasty black malt, and lots of citrusy, bitter grapefruit. Interesting combination.
Taste is hoppy, bitter, roasty, with a touch of chocolate that is buried deep behind the battle of the bitters going on in this beer. It was deeply bitter from all angles.
Mouthfeel is bitter, roasty, with some notes of candied toffee, and coffee.
This one sort of reminded me of Black Sun Stout with it's big hop bill but it was missing the huge sugar content. The bitterness units are there, as is the bitterness from the black malt, which makes it slightly one sided but enjoyable.
