Original gravity: 20.0 Plato. Alcohol: 9.0% abv
Orangeish copper with a reddish cast. The creamy off-white head holds very well and leaves nice lace. The nose is caramelish with a touch of alcohol. It's medium bodied and gently crisp before smoothing in the mouth as it warms. The flavor offers grainy maltiness with a toffee edge. Rich but not overbearing or overly alcoholic. It finishes dry with some alcohol and a mild hoppiness. Nicely done.

Whew!!! Check out this Bock if ya can. Banana spice up front, 9% ABV will greet you all the way to the exit. No nasty malts. Hardly a Bock, by definition. I enjoyed this muscle flexin' awl-kee-hawl beerooskie. I was almost afraid to try a "Bock" but it was a sweet flavor that kept the usual bland bock malt in check. $4.25 (I think) for a pint. Way to go J.H.'s. decent octane offering.
Beer is good. Happy McBeering.

It is a dark gold in color, with a little head and no lacing. The aroma is fruity and there is quite a bit of alcohol in the nose. It is very malty with a cherry fruitiness and a fusel alcohol finish. It is smooth, slick and warming. It does not hide the high ABV at all. I feel that it is a little harsh on account of this.

Sweet, malty alcohol aroma flows from this brew. Nose has some Belgian yeast qualities as well, with hints of clove and spice. The appearance leaves a bit to be desired, a somewhat clear light brown. The mouthfeel is quite smooth but to me is a tad light and thin for the style. This could use to be more robust. The alcohol character is quite warming, however. Flavor has hints of what could be a highly complex beer. Mostly malt dominated, with a slight sweetness and trace of hop bitterness in the finish. More off-the-wall barleywine than bock I think. Definitely worth a try though.
