Reviewed on 8/27/08. On tap at JH. Pours a cloudy light orange with a ring of white head. Aroma of light spices, clove. Flavor of spices initially, followed by a light sweetness and sweet melon rind. Reminds me a lot of CL Liquid Gold (even though that is not a tripel). Very well balanced and well crafted. The best JH brew I've had.

A: Darker than usual, a medium dark copper in color with burnt auburnish hues. A thin, sticky white head that remains as a slight layer, more pornounced around the glass. Good lacing.
S: Faint and spicy. Some spiced fruit-pear, apple, pineapple, etc. and some slight candi scents.
T: Follows the nose. Overabundant spicy flavors and spiced fruit flavors with some baked fruit flavors in there as well. The typical exotic fruit and fruitiness is lost with this one. Some herbal and earthy flavors peeking through at points as well as a warming sensation near the end.
MF: Smooth, of course, and medium to light in body.
Overall: This one misses the mark for me. It just wasn't a "tripel" to me.
