A - this Harvard's brew pours an extremely hazy brown apple cider type appearance, with a thin bubbly white head on top that thins out quickly

S - a definite bready aroma, rye hints, but not prominent, but the breadiness is, slight citrus hint at the back of the nose as well

T - wow, surprised at the hoppiness, IPA level hoppines, minus the grapefruit, , very thick though, almost chewy, definitely wheaty, a superb graininess

M&D - thick and chewy, but not to the point of distracting from the taste, was a decent mouthfeel, medium body and chewy as i mentioned, a great brew off tap, i expect no less from a quality brewery like John Harvard's

On tap on 05.13.07; served in a tumbler.

Sediment-laden maple in color beneath a creamy off-white head. Ringed lacing left behind, down the entire tumbler.

Hints of subtle malt sweetness with a musty wheat and grain aroma.

Semi-sweet caramel and toffe malts that fade rather quickly to unleash a rough and earthen hop and rye flavor. The grains are a bit much for the malt to handle, but not overpowering for the palate. The finish is dry with a noticeable yeast-filled mustiness.

A hefty medium in body; chewy and earthen. Again, if the malt character were beefed up a bit to balance the hops, the mouthfeel would have been much smoother, making this one more drinkable as well.
