Won by unanimous decision with this one on 2/27/2007. 16-oz. shaker in the bowels of Dunster Street.
Lots of loose, heady froth at the start, maybe 1/4-inch or so, that settles to a Labrador white coat; bits of hardscrabble lace going down. Muddy brown hue, light, with some orange and ochre tinges; lots of action, mesmerizing. Hard nose, but with pulling, some of the malt starts to announce itself, as if arriving late to the party, and some background candied yams as its escort, loosing a heel in the process. Mind you, by no means a harvest or spiced diorama, just a cool and even malt convention. With that in mind, the malt core kicks the tongue and sticks to the palate nicely, lingering. Some jazziness going on with a hard cider zing in there, but not overdone, more like some later Keith Jarrett stuff.
Yet again, quality plus.
