An old Pennsylvania style beer, close to a brown ale, the swankey came to the table a very nice deep brown color with good head. Its scent was very light, but crisp with a bit of maltiness. It has a nice taste, with perhaps just a bit too much anise, but ther's a nice tartness and maltiness to it, as well. It goes down fine and is an interesting beer to try.
