Here is a hoppy brown ale that doesn't follow the flavor profile established in Britain. In fact this could easily pass as a dark APA.
The color is a couple shades darker than the IPA I had. No head (5 oz tasting glass) and nearly no lace. The aroma is difficult to ascertain for a variety of reasons--there's no flaws either.
I suspect there is a generous amount of crystal malt in this. If so, this creates a solid base to the strong hop level. The body is firm and the carbonation fits the style.
What can I say? This is off style and very good. I could easily have a couple.
