Most D-bocks will be syrupy from the level of sugar in the brew. Not this one, it is the driest doppelbock I've ever had. While the malt is solid, the other oddity is the elevated level of hops, which show up strongly in the swallow and aftertaste.
I had to give extra points for the level of flavor in this beer, but I'd say it is closer to a hoppy dunkel. (There must be a joke somewhere in there.)

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
