Served in a 10 ounce brandy snifter. The liquor is a ruby, dark amber color. Excellent thick, frothy head that leaves a blanket of lace after each sip.
Strong caramel aroma--quite sweet, berry like. Although there is nearly no hop smell, the nose is very appealing.
Strong alcohol up front on the taste. There's a crystal malt presence. The hop is subtle and shows up late when swallowing. The aftertaste is warming and bitter. For a cask conditioned beer, this has a high carbonation level.
Overall, I'd describe this as a multidimensional beer with plenty of brandy elements.
