An overall quality stout. Not nearly as wonderful as their milk stout, but this beer does stand out as a very nice, well-rounded brew. It arrived to me black as night in the glass, with a thick tan head on top. Subtle aroma of burnt toast, dark chocolate, and coffee.
Flavors start off with a full, rich maltiness, followed by a strong coffee flavor. Chocolate and dark fruits are also present. Hops are present in the finish, though it could use a lil' kick more. Mouthfeel is smooth and creamy...hardly any carbonation...kind of what I expected. An easy drinker...nicely balanced, one that does not take a lot of interpretation.
