Poured from the bottle into a snifter glass.
A murky mahogany brown, and a bit wet coming out of the bottle. There's a real nice creamy head that forms on this though, a very light coffee to tan colored brown, and settles to a big bubbled milky looking collar.
Aroma is quite surprising and unexpected. Nice light roast, and a strange gummy sweet like character, like a gummy bear. Some mild hints of fruit. Not so much licorice.
Palate on first sip is really odd, but intriguing. Really light bodied and quite wet on the mouthfeel. Has almost a milk stout character, but not the lactose sweetness. Aftertaste finally kicks in with a salty and good bitterness that matches to character. Watered down coffee like flavor in the mid palate.
What an interesting fun brew. This is not your Twizzlers licorice, but a real good use of the candy in displaying its aromas and unique flavor. Drinks also real quickly and easily.

A: Pours a brown cloudy liquid into the glass. A frothy light brown head with uneven bubbles. It doesn't look that appealing at first glance.
S: Smells mild coffe, some grassy tones and sweet liquorice at the end. Something is a bit off in the middle.
T: Some sour tones at first, but then - almost nothing. If this is a liquorice stout they have hidden the liquorice well. Feels very much like drinking diluted cough medicine.
M: Watery. Some medium carbonation and very light in body.
O: Not worth the money. I won't buy it again. This is a beer that is brewed by Svaneke for Lakrids by Johan Bülow. So my guess is that this is not Svaneke's own recipe.
