“Hoppy” can mean either bitter or aromatic. In this case it means both – in abundance! Polygamy Pale Ale: Try one and you’ll want another, and another, and another…You may even want to buy the T-shirt!

served in a pint glass.

a - came to the table with a finger of rocky, tan head. retention is excellent and leaves thick clouds of lacing. color is a translucent, deep amber.

s - smells of toasted sourdough bread, grape, raisin and weedy hops. bonus points for uniqueness here.

t - follows nose with big bready malt character and dark fruity notes. has a dank sort of bitterness happening way in the back of the tongue.

m - feel is the lighter side of medium bodied with light carbonation. seems just right for the style.

overall a very enjoyable and unique beer. good to know that there are brewers out there who are still expanding on the style. recommended.

Had at the Lander Brewfest.

It poured a clear and rather brilliant medium gold with a half inch head of foam.

The smell had some light citrus and grain.

The taste brought some nice citrus notes=a pleasant bitterness. Like in the smell, I got a note or 2 of grain and a touch of grass. Pretty tasty for the abv.

Light bodied, med carbonation, good mouthfeel except for just before the swallow where it gets watery. Still, I liked this one.

A: Bright, clear copper color. Poured a 1 finger coarse head that dissipated fairly quickly to a skim on the top. Even, thin lacing to the end.

S: Big Cascade flavoring hops and pine resin. Thinking there had to be some crystal malt by the way it looked, but didn't get anything in the way of malt aromas.

T: Big hops come through and do get the faint taste of slightly sweet malt. The pleasantly bitter finish makes up for the lack of malt balance.

M: Light side of medium body. May have been a bit under-carbonated. Good cleansing bitter on the back.

D: Flavorful, easy to drink and, like a lot of the Utah beers seem to be, lower abv. Its a decent beer in a category with a bunch of good beers.

Poured bright copper with a thin white head. Some lacing sticks.

The smell is of citrus/grapefruit with a hint of pine. Soft, but very pleasant.

The taste is of some citrus, hint of pine evenly balanced by sweet malt. Well-balanced, a bit restrained. It has a bittersweet, dryish finish.

Medium-bodied and smooth, this an easy-drinking mild APA.

Draft pint at the Layton brewpub. This was delivered a nice copper/amber color with a solid 1/4-inch standing foam head. The aroma was an inviting pine-coney aura. As I drink, I get a woodsy hoppiness -- pine, and a hint of a distant forest fire -- and also a bit of a bubblegummy sweetness. Nice APA. (#2788, 4/11/2007)

A - Pours a clean copper color, not much carbonation, nice small head, nice lacing throughout the drink.

S - Scents of hops aplenty, very hoppy.

T - The taste is pretty hoppy with a nice bitter after taste.

M - Medium body.

D - Very drinkable. Very tasty. Highly recommended.
