There was a time when a man could satisfy his every earthly desire for a mere twenty-five cents on Historic 25th Street in Ogden. Our amber ale is a tribute to those days past. Brewed with three varieties of hops, caramel malt and a touch of roasted barley, the Two-Bit Amber Ale brings back the flavor of the past.

A: Slightly hazy amber color (I was wondering if it was a chill haze since it came to me very cold). Poured a one finger off-shite coarse head the dissipated to a broken skim. Beer decanted continually. Appetizing thin rings of lacing.

S: Crystal malts. Like the cream ale, I was a bit surprised (not a bad thing) with the aroma of flavoring hops - most amber ales I've had are only bittering hop notes.

T: Roasted caramel malts as I expected, flavoring hops and bitter hops at the back for balance. Not a chance of cloying caramel flavors lingering in this one. Again, this is not the typical amber.

M: Light side of medium body. Ample carbonation. Almost a cleansing, dry finish.

D: Highly drinkable and unique amber worth a try so you can figure out for yourself.

Pours hazed amber with a thin white head. A little lacing sticks.

The smell is very mild - some doughy yeast, some caramelish graininess.

The taste is caramelish/grainy with a touch of sour green apple and some yeast. Nice caramel sweetness, but I would have liked more bitter balance than sour balance.

Light-to-medium bodied.

Something "home-brewish" about it. A malt-accented Amber that could use some tweeking.

Draft pint at the Layton location. Rusty orange with a firm top. Hard to distinguish much of an aroma or notable flavor, but what there is comes across as a very even keeled malt with just the requisite bitterness, almost tart, almost not. Very down-the-middle-of-the-road beer. OK.(#2784, 4/9/2007)

A - Poured a little cloudy amber color, some carbonation, nice small head, nice lacing throughout the drink.

S - Scents of malts, hops.

T - This brew is quite different than othe ambers I've had. Very hoppy for an amber, with a nice bitter/bite ending.

M - Medium body.

D - Very drinkable. This is a very tasty brew, hoppy amber. Highly recommended, would buy again.
