From Roosters Brewing Co., Ogden, Utah. Rude Ram Red Ale, 6 pack of 12 fl. oz. cans, 7.0% ABV. No canned-on or freshness date to be found.
A: Hazy. A deep copper color. Two finger head that reduces to a thin ring. Good lacing on the drink down. I'm not a fan of hazy beers and wasn't expecting it here.
S: Strong caramel overpowers. Some watery maple syrup. Red berries. Light wet grass. Surprisingly a noticeable alcohol burn. Not appealing.
T: Much lighter than the smell. A honey sweetness that's enjoyable. Light red berries. Hops contribute nothing but bitterness. Really not much there.
M: Dense(!) with the perfect carbonation. Best part of this beer by far. Balanced, although the hop bitterness lingers way too long.
O: A "light" version of Sierra Nevada's Bigfoot? It's not what I was looking for when I bought it but it has its moments. The ABV hurts this beer.

the latest roosters beer i have seen in the can, they have really been expanding their package lineup. this is a real sturdy red beer, lightly hoppy, drier than most, fuller bodied, and with some european character among the malt layers, really drinks quite autumnal, and i can already see myself watching football, grilling, wearing flannel as the leaves fall this october slinging these back, a little more robust in alcohol than many of its peers too, i think this fills a cool style niche. it starts nutty and bready, lightly caramelized, mineral forward, subtle english and german at the same time to me, nice sweetness too, a hint of maple and brown sugar, but its cleaner later on so it doesnt linger, the high dose of hops help with that, and while this is short of the red ipa mark, its definitely more hop forward than a lot of american red types. pine and resinous character to the hops, some bitter floral aspect too, enough to push through all the grain on the swallow. the ferment is pretty clean, this is off dry but decidedly not sugary at the end, the carbonation is there, and this feels hearty, balanced, robust, and satisfying. glad to see these guys canning so many different beers now, i am sure i will drink my share of this one this fall. a great add to their lineup, wide appeal type beer here but not a typial boring amber, well done.

12 oz can. Pours deep red/brown with a medium light brown head. Aroma is sweet malt and caramel. Taste is the same, sweet malt but not too sweet. I’m generally not a big fan of the style but this is a good red ale .

LOOK - deep brown color with a slight reddish hue - very cloudy - lacking carbonation - could not get more than a 1/8" of foam and that disappeared quickly
SMELL - some dark brown sugar and slight earthiness - touch of flower and mango from hops
TASTE - nice earthy rich bite - hop bitterness - sweet malt fades in - some charred wood and dark grain bitterness surfaces - nice "red funk" flavor / earthiness that is difficult to describe but you know when you have it - trails off quite a bit drier and more smoky grain flavors in the aftertaste
FEEL - nice medium body but quite flat and uninteresting
OVERALL - this is a nice flavorful beer and would definitely buy again - picked up in Sandy UT when visiting (12oz. can) - This is the CANNED version purchased in a State Liquor store and boasts a 7% ABV (not the watery 4% version on tap).

Pours a cloudy reddish amber color, nice carbonation, nice one-finger off-white creamy head, which leaves some sticky lacing behind. The nose is malty, with some hops, lots of caramel. The taste is malty, slightly sweet, some hops thrown in. Medium body, the finish is dry and bitter. Drinkable, but too much hops for an amber, well at least this one.
