cool to see some roosters cans showing up in boise, i like their beer. this is a weird one, the last pumpkin beer left in the store when we went looking, or close to it, a pumpkin chocolate chip cookie ale, sounds gross but its not, its good, impressively so actually, and was the perfect pumpkin carving, halloween movie watching brew! its deep copper in color with an airy inch of off white fluff on top from the can, looks nice. smells good too, more bitter chocolate than sweet chocolate, some cinnamon and nutmeg it seems, a roasted element, actual squash in here, earthy and sweet, and without much from the yeast. there is a nice synergy between the natural chocolate and pumpkin elements in the flavor, nothing forced, and the spices compliment it well without being overdone, warming cinnamon, maybe a bit of clove, very fall and very cohesive, not a novelty as it sounds like it is, i drank these right up! the finishing dryness and the high carbonation really help it drink easy, and i actually think the chocolate helps mellow the spices and any brown sugar type sweetness from the grain, it sounds like a weird add, but its a vital part of this. a strange concept for a beer, but we honestly loved it. among the best pumpkin beers of the season this year!
