a tasty if slightly overdone with type, lots and lots of yeast character here, robustly fragrant, perhaps not as well refined and proportioned as the best examples of the style, but for those who dont mind a little perfume thing, its summery and fun beer. i like that the wheat can be both tasted and felt, that is critical in these and it is present for me. i smell and taste fresh orange zest, a strong toasted coriander element, but also curious aromatics like lime leaf and lemongrass, a bit more tropical than these usually feel, and incredibly estery from the yeast, without the spiciness that often keeps these grounded, its all high tone and lacking complexity in the fermentation profile overall, maybe done a little hotter than it needs to be, seems a bit overdeveloped to me, but its neat with the other elements at the same time. in the flavor all that intensity is in the finish, a real late climax to this one, so it loses the refreshment factor i enjoy in the style. a little more earthiness from the grain would be cool, a peppery or clove or allspice note in the yeast too would serve a purpose, without it this kind of floats away into the realm of cotton candy, cooked banana, orange sherbet, and the makings of a fine curry. enjoyable beer, but a bit much for all day drinking, which i like to do with a wit. not bad, but one and done for me.
