Coastline Brewery is located on 41st Ave a few blocks north of Portola. If you blink you will drive past it as it is very small. They open late so call ahead.
First off this place is not a brewpub-there is no brewing on site-I asked where the beer was brewed and I was told Redwood.
The interior is small and reminds me of a laid back beach bar-which it is.
I did taste one of their beers-the pale ale-which was OK-not a knock your socks off brew. All brews here are organic (3 brews on tap) and are $4 a pint.
I spoke to the bartender for a few minutes and he explained to me that they are trying to open up in down town Santa Cruz and bring production of the beer to a new Santa Cruz site (not the new location down town-but another brewery).
For a bar it is a cool hangout-however it is not a brewpub.
I cant say that they serve food or not-however, there are great dinning choices next door and across the street.
Update 2/14/07-last summer they moved to down town Santa Cruz-I have a feeling they have closed-their website doesn't work and I haven't seen any adds or promotions from them in some time-I will try to walk by there to double check ASAP
