Concordia Cream Ale

Poured from a growler into a pint glass. Reviewed live.

A- Disappointing from the get-go. The beer clearly didn't hold up well in the growler and came out flat as a board. No head, no lacing, no carbonation to speak of. Pale straw color, medium clarity.

S- Light smell, cream and light malts. Nothing special.

T- Almost hard to drink without carbonation. Little to no taste, slight bitter hops in the tail-end. Some cream taste. Sad.

M- Water.

O- This beer did not hold up well in the growler. Disappointing since I filled it up only Sunday. I don't think I'll try it again.

Perhaps this new batch of cream ale is evidence of the improvement in beer quality. Pours a slightly hazy orange hue with white head fading quickly to an average lace.

Smells lightly of citrus, yeast, and light malts. Really delicate aromas, yet present and very nicely delineated. Palate confirms with an orange peel, meyer lemon note backed with yeast and a little light malt (grain) nuance.

Texture is lovely for something this light, good grip, nice balance, and a lovely finish. This is what light beer should feel like on the palate.

Overall a very good cream ale from a summer spent tasting many awesome examples of this style!

A completely odorless beer of pale yellow, Concordia is modestly clear and has ample carbonation, but fails to deliver any sort of suds. Its taste is tepid with neither the lean crispness of a lager nor the hearty fruitiness of an ale. Just a bland doughy taste like a dishrag dragged across the tongue. And some bittering. Whatever.

Nothing really materializes here. The malt and hops are indistinct and the beer isn't even served cold enough to induce simple refreshment value. Boring and bland.
