Collaboration with Hunter & Sons (Bath, UK)

We did this stout with Hunter & Sons and Round Hill Roastery of Bath, England. They brought the coffee. We brewed the beer. A fruity, floral Ethiopian Sidamo Dimtu in a chocolatey, roasty stout. Melikami gīzē!

Imperial Coffee Sotut with the bar in Bath (ING) Hunter & Sons, specializing in coffee and craft beer, which obtained the coffee from the Round Hill Roastery (also in Bath, ING); a Dimtu from the Sidamo region of Ethiopia.
On the nose, espresso coffee and a hint of licorice / anise.
When poured, the scent of coffee is released even more, little light brown foam, which remains just veiled to the side of the glass, very little consistency.
Impenetrable black color.
In the mouth the entrance is sweet, but soft, but soon the full body of the beer comes out and makes the drink full and round.
The predominant taste can only be that of an espresso, bitter, with a balanced smoky (rather than roasted) aftertaste almost an earthy touch, but not in a negative sense, to convey the idea of the incisiveness of this gustatory note.
Alcoholic note that makes itself felt before a closure in which notes reminiscent of dark chocolate and (once again in my opinion) a slight hint of licorice emerge.
All in all dry finish, even if the underlying creaminess also remains on the lips.
Full, hot drink, very characterized by malts and coffee.

*Bourbon and blueberry barrel aged. 330 mL bottle. Black body. Smells of bourbon, a little blueberry, strong roasted malt, chocolate, and oak. Tastes of dark chocolate with a tinge of blueberry around the edges. Bourbon permeates. Oak, vanilla. Boozy finish. Heavy and alcoholic. Tasty, but very big. Good in small quantities.
