Having spent so much time & effort in the past week drinking, reviewing & rating NOTHING but AmeriCAN-made CANned beers in support of (ISO) both the 4th of July & The CANQuest (tm), it is time to move on & branch out again. Here we go!

From the CAN: "Citra[,] Ekuanot[,] Mosaic"; "Double Dry Hopped India Pale Ale"; "Fresh is our ever changing concept, idea and journey towards the perfect IPA in a world where our idea of the perfect IPA is ever changing. Embarking on a journey towards a super crisp, nicely sparkling and crushingly lush IPA, with loads and loads and loads of hops. That's fresh! This is fresh! Gotta be fresh!"

I Crack!ed open the vent & beCAN a slow, gentle C-Line Glug into the awaiting glass, but it quickly became evident that my attempt at clarity was futile. I then sped up my Glug, allowing it to run a bit more freely to form just under two fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, tawny head with decent retention that left a load of lacing in its wake. Color was a deeply-hazy/lightly-cloudy Amber (SRM = > 7, < 9). Nose definitely had the tropical fruitiness of Mosaic, but the Citra was giving it a grapefruit & lemony tartness, also. Mmm. Mouthfeel was not quite full & creamy, but definitely on the approach & certainly big for an AIPA. The taste had a tropical fruit bent, including coconut, which I have noted in a few IPAs recently. It was restrained in its sweetness while not being so citrusy as to be off-putting for those who do not like that flavor profile. Finish was semi-dry to dry, a very pleasant AIPA with a touch of caramel sweetness on the extreme finish. My only bugaboo with it was its price point, thanks to it having been brewed by a Swedish brewer. For what I paid, I could almost have bought two (2) CANs of something else. Price has to be a CANsideration.
