Bottom fermentation, medium full and medium bitter whole malt beer. Vienna lager and Bavarian Märzen were the inspiration for its composition. The color is closer to Märzen and the bitterness closer to Vienna lager. Märzen, Czech March beer, used to be cooked in March, which is still rather cold. Nowadays we have mechanical cooling and, therefore, we cook amber all year round.

Had on tap. Mostly clear amber body, khaki full head, plenty of lacing. Aromas of caramel malt, mild autumnal grains, toast and yeast. Taste is much the same, simple yet sound, a touch of earth hop kiss on the finish. Feel is malty yet soft and has enough yeast texture to stand out. The wife liked it

I had this beer on-tap in a dimpled mug at the brewery.
Appearance: medium copper amber hue with dash of haze and a thick head of creamy tan foam atop.
Smell: lightly bready malt with a little fruity yeastiness but not a ton of intensity. It’s not too bad.
Taste: toasty, bready, and somewhat biscuity malt, with a moderate sweetness. There’s plenty of hop bitterness, too, but it’s balanced. A good amber lager.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a good level of carbonation and creaminess.
Overall: usually I’m not a fan of that biscuity malt quality, but here it’s low in the mix and contributes to the complexity. I like it.

Unfiltered light amber with two fingers of lasting cappuccino foam light tan head. Uneven dissipation and thick clumpy lacing. Light cherry sweetness and darker malt in the nose. Very little sweetness in the taste. Mineral water, bitterness and lightly toasted malt in the taste. Slick feel with refined carbonation. Solid.

On tap into a dimpled beer mug
A - Beer pours a clear dark amber that leans more towards garnet than straight amber. Low to moderate carbonation is visible and the head is 2 fingers high, khaki in color, and frothy. Head dissipates slowly to a lacing that is retained throughout the tasting. 4/5
S - Typical of the Marzen style the aroma is a very sweet maltiness with notes of grains and caramel. Also present are a bit of floral hops. 4/5
T - Same as the aroma, this beer leans towards the sweet malty side of the spectrum with a nice caramel backbone and light fruit. Along with the sweetness comes a dose of bitter hops that come across as both grassy and herbal, not the floral that I was expecting based on the aroma. Beer finishes more bitter than I would expect from a Marzen. Bitterness lingers slightly. 3.75/5
M - Smooth and creamy, reminiscent of the style which this brewery seems keen on doing. Low carbonation makes for a medium bodied Marzen that does not linger on the palate, although it is a touch dry right before the finish. 4/5
O - Slightly more bitter than I am used to out of the Marzen/Oktoberfest department. Much closer to an American Amber than a European Marzen in terms of bitterness. Very good offering, just not quite what I was expecting. 4/5
