Sampled on 9/24/05, it came out a very dark but clear brown under a two finger tan head, nice and creamy, fading slowly leaving sheets of lace. Beautiful. The nose is somewhat astringent (ammonia?), and slightly sour. The mouth is well-carbonated and slightly sticy. The sweet caramel opening is offset by the slightest touch of sour lemon. The caramel prevails, complemented by mild hoppy bitterness. Definitely right on for the dunkel style, although I'd guess it wasn't as fresh as it should be.
