Tasted by a half pint at the Wenlock Arms last week.
A: it pours a dark caramel hue with ruby hints, nice clarity, loosely formed head and low carbonation.
S: upfront is nice aroma of ripe dark fruits, with a tinge of red wine and slightly madeira-wine hints, on a bed of semi-sweetish malts.
T: lightly-smoked maltiness and toffeeish flavour upfront, backed firmly by the dark-fruitiness and a little tinge of caramel; leading to a black-tea like bitter-sweet aftertaste...
M&D: overall this beer is light-bodied and smooth on the mouthfeel, with a roughly balanced profile on the palate--a quietly tasty and very easy-drinking mild ale.
