Half pour (cask) at Post Office Vaults. Dark brown, small bubbly head, thick. Mild nutty aroma and taste, roast grains. Very smooth, full. Overall decent, a good example of the style.

On cask. Pours a clear ruby brown with with a thin creamy head that recedes but still sits on top for...ever? Nose is a little smokey, some fruity malt, and some earthy hops. Good combo and not muted like some milds. Taste is really full-flavoured. I can’t believe this is a 3.2% beer. Mildly roasty and toasty, on the sweet side, fruity malt, and a touch of that smoke. Pillowy soft mouthfeel. Overall, fantastic, and I can’t believe this is the same beer others have reviewed here. Maybe the best dark mild I’ve ever had.

10 litre sedimented polypin from the brewery. Pours hazy reddish-brown with thick lasting white head. Aroma slight fruit. Taste: berry fruit and light caramel. Finish: nutty. Palate: light-bodied. Overall: a gentle mild, at only 3.2% abv can be drunk in quantity.

Pours dark brown with a small off-white head. Aroma is toasted malty and slight caramelish with a yeasty hint. Light herbal hoppy. Dry in mouth with a medium body and a low bitterness with malty roasted flavours and a slight hoppy note. Great session beer!

On cask at the Belfast Beer Festival.

Pours cherry red-brown with a properly sticky off white head. Bark, cinnamon, leaves and roasted nuts on the nose. Hazelnut malts, roasty mild, autumn leaf and tea hops. Tight finish. Medium, dry, chewy.

Not like any mild I know. Fruit missing here, and maybe too much chocolate malt? I accept there's a lot of range in this style, and I'd like to try it again, but first impression is something ain't right.

Again, not retired.

I'm not sure why this says retried as I just had a glass of it last week in England. I've always wanted to try a classic english mild but I was somewhat disappointed with this. The malt is a little too strong tasting for the alcohol and I just ended up feeling bloated and overwhelmed by the flavor. Almost like an under attenuated beer.

This review is from a brewery trip in September 2006, although I have drank this brew at various locations within Shropshire for a few years.

Always looks good, dark, sticky and wholesome, a true mild.

This is not an old beer, but brought to life once the brewery became viable and could afford to experiment a bit.

It has a proper mild feel about it, a bit sweet maybe, but still true to style. Based on Banks's Mild (from a source within the brewery), it was brewed to local tastes, this has helped to ensure it was excepted. Well worth trying if you ever see it.
