Hobsons Dog of Two Head Premium Ale. 4.2% ABV. 500ml / 16.9 US fl. oz bottle. Purchased in Aberystwyth, Wales.
Described by the brewer as "a chestnut amber traditional ale, with a modern citrus twist delivered by the British hops." Produced in association with the British rock band Status Quo, with 5% of proceeds to the Dogs Trust charity.
Pours a medium dark clear brown with a deep white head that subsides slowly, leaving fairly extensive lacing. Malt and hops on the nose: a pleasant aroma, but no citrus that I could detect. The taste is weak in character, dominated by the late arrival of hop bitterness, which clears quite quickly. Mouthfeel is watery.
Overall: a beer that promises more in appearance and aroma than it delivers in taste. Drinkable, but not noteworthy in any way.
