My first beer from JC!
Clear, coppery-bronze in hue with a tawny highlight interwoven, the liquid cant look any more like a Märzen. Due to the stadium pour the head was served, well, almost non-existent. There were just a few wispy traces of foam around the edges. As such there was no subsequent lacing. The appearance of this beer is affected by the bartender but this is a brewpub and this is how he was trained to pour their house beer.
The nose was quiet, not death quiet but library quiet. Clean, like it should be but it lacks richness that I desire. There was a kiss of caramel malt and some earthy hops. Low potency. Plus the nose doesnt say much and there isnt a German accent O-fest? Maybe.
The palate is livelier than the nose. Good. There is a strong foundation of malty sweetness with a smattering of biscuit. Clean. The hop profile is minimal; I only found a distant kiss of earth. The palate is simple and incomplete. As is, it tastes good enough to drink again but not to recommend.
The mouthfeel is flawed, it lacks carbonation plus it is watery. Medium-light in body, it needs more body. Workable.
Sure, this beer is drinkable. It is a good first step for JC but I hope the beers continue to improve here. I have high, but realistic expectations. The first round didnt meet them. I sampled this downtown at the brewpub.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
