Clear, bronze-amber in hue; the head was white, it was served one finger tall. Head retention was excellent, the foam just sat on top of the liquid. It had staying power like it overdosed on Viagra. The subsequent lacing was very widespread; it was like tattered wallpaper. This IPA is the perfect pint!
The nose offers biscuits and caramel malts with an underlying citrusy hoppiness. It doesnt really smell like an IPA. Hell, Ive smelled run-of-the-mill APAs that were hoppier like Boulevard Pale Ale! Without a doubt I was poured the IPA as I took a sip of my dads Pale Ale, they were very different. Moderately low potency, this is not a talkative beer. Sure, the aromas are nice and Id call the bouquet inviting but it is far from special or an IPA.
The palate mirrors the nose; it is malty with caramel and crackers/biscuit kisses and an underlying citrusy-flowery bitterness. Ale fruitiness is found throughout. Again, this is not very IPA-like. It is not even an English IPA. This is just a Pale Ale with some alcohol meat, which is well hidden. This is a well brewed beer but it is a tickle sweet and it lacks the hop bite and flavor depth of a good IPA. Still, it is a tasty brew.
Medium/medium-light in body, workable mouthfeel, low carbonation which fits this beer well enough.
Drinkable; it is a beefy session beer IPA-thingy. While a quality beer it is not an IPA (broken record). I am disappointed. I heard some good things with this beer I have to disagree. I would drink it again if nothing better was on-tap. It is solid but not noteworthy. I sampled it downtown at the brewpub.

This was the probably the best beer I had at Jobber's Canyon. Shame it is a seasonal (perhaps a rotating offering?). The beer pours a little bit darker than the pale and with a much greater head that laces well to the glass.
The smell is the only thing disappointing from this beer. The hops never seem to really open up with the aromatics. The taste is plenty bitter, however, and balanced well with a sweet caramel malt. Not over-the-top hoppy and citric like some American IPA's, but just a really good balancing bitterness.
