Served in a snifter; clear, bronzy amber in hue with some copper in the mix. White head, at the apex the foam was only a 1/4th finger tall but the style of glass wouldnt allow for a much larger head. The bubbles quickly faded to a thin, soapy cap and then a skinny collar. There was some spotty subsequent lacing. I like how this beer looks.
The nose is pleasant; I wish the potency was louder though. It was served a bit too cold for me. Even after some time to bloom the aromas are not very thunderous. Typical Scotch Ale maltiness, there are rich caramel notes. I dont detect any smokiness or peat though. Plenty of fruity notes develop, like raisins and some apples. Too me, it is a bit fruity for the style. The nose lacks some of the qualities I enjoy in a Scotch Ale. Still, Id call the nose inviting.
The palate is very good. Toasty maltiness, hints of vanilla, rich caramel sweetness well at least this is not a sissy Scottish Ale. Dark fruits like raisins and prunes (plus some apples). No smoke or peat but there is brown sugar and candy at the back; a bit spicy too. All the attributes play very well with each other. This is a tasty beer but not a total Scotch Ale. While not flawed it is missing some dirtiness. It is clean but likable. Fairly long aftertaste; the alcohol is well-hidden throughout. If this beer was maltier it would be great.
Medium in body, low but natural carbonation, the mouthfeel fits this beer well but, again, more beef would have been great.
If nothing else this beer is tasty and very easy to drink. Thus far this is my favorite JC beer by far. This is the first JC beer I have had that I wanted to go back the next day and drink it again. So I did. A very nice beer; I sampled it downtown at the brewpub, I suggest you do likewise.

This is one of the best beers available at Jobber's Canyon, but unfortunately it is only a seasonal. Labelled as a scotch ale but more closely resembles a scottish ale.
This is the only beer not served in the standard shaker pint, but rather a nice little tulip. The beer is a copper color with a thin and frail white head that dissipates quite quickly.
The smell and taste are ripe with caramel maltiness. Quite sweet and grainy. An easy drinker despite being one of the stronger beers available at Jobber's Canyon.
