Clear, brassy-copper in hue, beige head, there was one finger of foam. Solid head retention, it slowly faded to a soapy cap. There is widespread, subsequent, spotty lacing. What a nice looking beer.
The nose smells like a fruity English hop tea, juicy with a bit of earth at the back. Fairly clean. Straightforward bouquet, it is still quite likeable. Not complex but it softly says English Pale Ale to me.
The palate is very pleasant, very juicy, and just as fruity, mild bitterness but it lingers well plus there are some bready, caramel malt. It is clean but not so squeaky clean I am put off. In many ways this reminds more of SA Boston Ale, not quite as talkative though. No sign of alcohol. I like the tea-like finish, juicy, sweet caramel malt residue. I found this quite pleasant. Id say this is fairly spot-on for the style.
The mouthfeel is a tickle light and watery for me but it doesnt distract much from the flavors. Medium-light in body, low carbonation overall, it has a workable mouthfeel.
Easy to drink, the ABV is a bit high to truly session with. Nevertheless, this is a really well-made beer. Give me a Plowmans lunch, this beer, and Id be set. Sampled at the brewpub. Try one.
