A pale golden caramel color this oddity shows a effervescent white sliver of head but it quickly bubbles away to nothing. Lacing is similarly lacking. The aroma brings a definitive toffee malt, caramel sweetness with buttery qualities and a hint of orange citrus. A bit more promising than appearances suggested. The flavor is pretty consistent with the aroma, a bit more grassy, almost a little whiskey to it but only vaguely. It has a pretty fragile carbonation to it yet it manages a crispness that is decent, though it is a little watery, carrying a fairly light body. I do pick up more of the citrus idea but it's a nuance, perhaps leaning toward more of an apple cider idea, and again a little butterscotch sweetness. Generally this is just a little unsettled as to what it is. A little more body, a less watery feel, and the flavor might have made this a more memorable brew. As it is, I'd have to say it's very average and some folks might consider a poor effort. I thought it was okay.

12 oz bottle was poured into a pint glass.
Appearance: The beer poured a minimal head that has already reduced to a thin layer. The beer is a golden yellow with great clarity. There are signs of carbonation coming up through the glass.
Smell: bready malts, citrus aromas too.
Taste: lemon, citrus, grassy, and bready malts. Pretty simple pale ale.
Mouthfeel: smooth, medium carbonation, medium bodied, and easy to drink.
Overall: Not to familiar with EPA's, but this is a start. ALright for a beer, but I was looking for more flavor. Simple and easy to drink though.

This beer pours a clear, bold gold color with a thin head and lasting lace. It's aroma is of lemons, pine, and some hay. The flavor has notes of lemon, grapefruit, and honey with a mild hop bitterness in the finish that lingers. The mouthfeel is light-medium. Paper City Ireland Parish Brand Golden Ale is a good beer, crisp and refreshing. Recommended.

Notes from a few days ago. Best by date was in March.
Pours a slightly hazy golden yellow. White head forms, slight cap and ring stick around.
Lemon, orange, grassy, saison-like yeast in the nose.
Big soapy, slightly chemically yeast overtakes all. Reminds me of Belgian yeast much more than anything English - it's kinda grassy, bretty and funky. Some lemon and bread in the finish. Pretty much tastes like a funky saison without complexity, though I think that wasn't the intention.
Stinging carbonation, just pretty unpleasant overall. I'm guessing infected? The brettiness actually does make it a little interesting but you can tell the beer is just off.

A : pours a clear yellow with a big white fizzy head. Dissipates moderately and with a popping sound.
S : smells of sweet bread and a finish of candied sugar. An underlying musty/earthy hop aroma.
T : starts sweet and malty. A touch of bread and an almost corn-like flavor. A bit of earthy hops come in around the middle of the profile with a nice bitterness and a hint of citrus hop towards the end.
M : crisp and smooth. A good full flavor that doesn't miss much. easy to drink. A nice little beer
A pretty nice sessionable beer. Flavorful and easy to drink

Pours a golden color with a two-finger head into my glass. It quickly fades down to leave a decent amount of lacing.
Aroma is a combination of grassy hops with sweet, "fruity" malt. There's possibly a hint of butter as well from the malt.
Grassy hops greet the tongue, followed by buttery sweet malt. It's very relaxed unlike its' American counterpart. Not quite a golden ale but it works as an EPA.
Mouthfeel is full of lingering grassy hops and sweet malt. Nothing out of the ordinary here.
It works for me. Easy to drink and well-executed. Some may say that it's "boring" but not me. Check it out.

pours a hazy golden color with just over a finger head and a fair amount of lace that sticks and holds well. slight fruit smell with a spicy hop nose. dry biscuit/bready malt taste with a dry crisp carbonation and medium body ending with a strong hop note and a cloying after taste. this beer is a pass for me i just did not care for the taste.

Paper city variety pack. Beer 3 of 4.
A - Dark amber hue along with little head and lacing.
S - Mostly bready malt and very faint citrus. Mostly bitter malt smell.
T - Very smooth hoppy earthiness along side of slight bread backbone. Pretty ok.
M - Light yet harsh. Must be from age.
D - Well the "best if served by 3/30/09" stares me in the face to make me think I was both wronged and that it would taste better fresh. Maybe some day.

Pours a perfectly clear golden yellow with a two finger, fizzy white head that dies down pretty quickly. The beer leaves pretty heavy lacing behind as I drink it. Smells of piney hops and pale malts. The balance is good, not complex at all but very solid. I can see where this one is going, not what I expected either. Taste is nice. A very solid backbone of both hops and pale malts. Both of them can be tasted pretty much equally. The hops are mostly piney and some citrus in there too. Mouthfeel is moderate bodied with some decent creaminess, no alcohol warming and a nice bitter coating on the tongue. The carbonation is medium and perfectly suits the style of beer. Drinkability is also great for this one, probably one of the better session beers I have had in a long time. The taste is good, the price is good for the quality of this beer, the hops will keep this from ultimate drinkability because they start to take over after a while. I really wouldn't mind buying this the next time I need a session beer.

The lacing on this one is actually pretty nice. Light hazy golden body. Smell is sweet, almost buttery. Taste is quite sweet as well. Not too much of a hop thing going on here, but with some effort I can locate it. Mouthfeel is decent, a little thinner than I'd like it to be, but hey. Got this one from a friend who got a free 6 pack as he walked out the door, so at that price its quite a bargain. Not a bad brew, but there are many others to be had.

Paper City will wow me one of these days.
Best If Served By: 11.30.09(That's quite generous)
Pint glass pour. Clear light honey brown body, pasty off-white head.
Smell is of dough, boiled vegetables, & eek... margarine.
Taste is light on the butter thankfully. Well, as long as it stays cold. Anyway, plain white bread sweetness, decent herbal bitterness that lingers, husky grain as it ends, along with a little tin.
Watery flavor, soupy/muddled feel. Decent carbonation. There is a little slickness as it runs down.
A combination of being slightly unappetizing & just plain boring. I feel sorry for it.

Bright gold in color with a big 3 finger white head that dies leaving some lace, super carbonated. Lazy in the glass when swirled.
Aroma consists of resiny hops, honey, some malt sweetness and a hint of blossom flowers. The hops are upfront and bold, like crushing a Cascade hop flower in your hand and inhaling it.
The taste has a hop bitterness, some light maltiness and corn. Migrates toward sourness in the after taste. Some unpleasant hop bitterness in the finish as well and in the beginning.
Soft, medium bodied mouthfeel, average.
Too hoppy for a golden ale, but a good beer. I've had some IPA's that aren't this hoppy!

A- Pale golden color, slightly cloudy, one finger thick fluffy head that lowered slowly, some tiny bubbles rising throughout
S- Citrusy, earthy, herbal, light hops
T- Sweet, buttery, toasted malts, bready, grains, decent amount of apple flavor
M- Medium body, medium carbonation, crisp, smooth, semi-dry finish
D- Worth buying again
I would consider this a pretty decent EPA. Good flavor but a little bit sweet for my tastes.

12 oz bottle poured into a snifter - Fridge temp - 2008
Appearance: Pours a slightly cloudy orange color with wisps of cloudy sediment. The cream head rises 1/2" and is comprised of huge and miniscule bubbles. A bit of lace sits on the glass.
Smell: Sharp hop aroma is filled with lemon, sour milk, thistle and fresh herbs.
Taste: Tart and mineral flavor has an underlying pale malt flavor. There is a strange herbal flavor that is similar to chamomile, but more herbaceous.
Mouthfeel: Tart and herbal. Medium body. Plenty of carbonation, drying finish.
Drinkability: This is a strange beer with an odd herbal quality. It isn't bad, just different. I would like another bottle to adjust for consistency. Decent.

A - Beautiful pour with vigorous carbonation... Three fingers worth of chunky fades to two fingers worth, but then shows excellent retention... Pale straw color with orangish amber highlighting... Completely translucent... Still with no visible carbonation which is surprising given the pour... Good stickiness is displayed on the sides of the glass...
S - Sweet malts... Mandarin oranges... Almonds... Butter... Toffee... Caramel.... Faint hint of spiciness... A very thin layer of hoppy bitterness...
T - Biscuit... Malt... Hint of citrus... Slight European hop profile...
M - Slight tongue of carbonation on the tongue... Crisp and refreshing... A hint of creaminess... Slightly bitter aftertaste... The finish is a bit dry...
D - Very average all the way around... Quite sessionable...

Pours a light golden color with some nice head to it and an average amount of lacing. Decent mouthfeel to it, definitely on the lighter body side. Taste is of some European type hops.. almost a pilsener type taste to this one. Finishes clean and smooth. Not the best or more interesting style of beer out there but this one certainly fits the bill. Could use a tad more taste as it's a little drab overall but its an easy drinker that's unoffensive... would I have it if it wasn't part of the Paper City Variety pack?... no sir.
