Thanks to my buddies for introducing me to PaperCity Brewery. Been going there for many months now, all you can drink, and always walking out with 22 oz beers.

Pours a golden pale color, with mild carbonation and very weak head. Smells are abundant with fruity notes like pineapple, banana, and citrus. A little yeasty smell in the background. Sweet aromas give it a nice appeal.

The taste is rather bland, with a hoppy aftertaste. Relatively no sweetness. A good swish of this beer gives it a foamy texture, a little bubbly when swallowing.

I've enjoyed this beer every time at PCB, but I still think they can improve it's body. I definitely feel this beer has been cheated with all the enticing scents it has. At least reward it with some flavor. Then again, if it's supposed to be an adaptation of the German Pils, then I'd accept it's character

Pours a clear dark yellow with a big foamy white head. No lace.

Grassy, musty yeast, sweet grain aromas.

This one has some funk. A bit lemoney -- or has a tart edge. Some dusty yeast and grass, which surprised me. Dries out a bit, and there is some firm bitterness. Decent balance.

Lighter bodied, well carbonated.

Flavors are a little funky - the tart edge threw me a bit. Not pure German pils, but it still works. OK brew.

Pours a mild golden color with a one-finger head into my glass. Nice color and a step above the bland yellow.

Lots of sweet bready/grainy malt upfront with only a slight amount of hops.

Rich, buttery malt compliments a hint of grassy hops upfront. Not quite as sweet as I originally though. Not too hoppy either.

Ditto on the mouthfeel, which contains lingering buttery malt. Not much else to note.

Overall, an interesting take on the style. It probably won't win any awards but it hits the spot regardless.

22oz bottle purchased somewhere local in MA. No dates, although some cryptic code on the bottom of the bottle.

Poured into an imperial pint glass, formed a 2 1/2" off-white head over the clear golden brew. Head falls at an average pace, down to a smaller mountain of froth, with coating sticky lace prevalent. Aroma is spicy with a slightly sweet undercurrent.

Taste starts mildly sweet, but then finds a strong lemony presence in the middle, spiciness of the hops comes on at the close. Tartness carries through the close. Mouthfeel is okay except for the prickly sourness, and drinkability is not great. Wish I could discern if this is as intended or out-of-date, but with not bottled/best date it is not possible to tell.

Another new bomber packaged beer from Paper City in Holyoke. I could not find any information on this beer, so I am guessing based on taste, color and smell that this falls within the German Pils realm. I dumped this in to a Sam Adams pint glass, which gave me a slightly hazy golden colored beer with a finger worth of head, and a ton of air bubbles racing to the top of the glass. Aromatics aren't really doing much, some bread and vegetable smells here and there. It definitely comes off as a hoppy lager, and a good representation body wise. The taste on the background is a little off, emitting a bit of metallic flavor. Drinkability is no problem with this beer, the bomber was finished quickly enough. I give some respect points to Paper City for dealing with a style that from what I understand is really difficult to get right. They did a very worthy representation.
