Had on-tap at Dry Dock Brewery. Poured into a 10 oz. sampling glass. This one has been aged for two years according to the board.
A- Pours a semi-clear amber with garnet hues throughout. Produced a fingers width of white head. Some lacing as the beer was consumed.
S- Wonderful aroma of caramel malts along with a subtle dark fruit sweetness. I only wish this aroma was a bit more dominant. Not as pungent as I would have liked.
T- Much like the aroma, but very rich. Lots of caramel malts and dark fruits combine to give off a semi-sweet, complex flavor. Aging has done this wonders. The beer finishes with a nice comforting bitterness. Slight alcohol burn as it moves down into the chest.
M- Perfect. Medium bodied with some carbonation. Great residual stickiness is left on the palate.
D- At 11% this beer was dangerously drinkable. I had no problem finishing my 10 oz. sample and going back for more.
Overall, this was a fantastic barleywine. One of the best I have had as of late. Really impressed with Dry Dock's offerings so far.

The notes on the menu said this was from a homebrew recipe that was then brewed at Dry Dock. Apparently it won some award at the Vail Belgian and Big Beer Festival this year, whatever. My friend tells me that ragnarok is Celtic for apocalypse which I found slightly impressive. As for the beer, it was a nice ruby-red color with a creamy head on top. It smelled sweet. The taste was sweet, caramel, with a hint of bitterness. The mouthfeel was perfect, I kept swishing it around my mouth on every drink. This was a very good beer.
