Malty and complex, this big beer has a strong caramel backbone complimenting the aroma of charred oak from barrel aging. The nose wafts of seasonal pumpkin spice warmth with a hint of alcohol.
This beer was aged fin Heaven Hill barrel for 13 months.

Dark mahogany red body, clear; thin, light khaki ring of foam inside the glass. Very nice aroma; subliminal pumpkin pie spice with a slight note of rye or light whiskey; allspice and coriander. The taste brings out a bit more sweetness, brown sugar; pumpkin pie spices; a modest bourbon presence; slight phenol bitterness. Heavy, silky body; smooth and luxurious on the palate; very mild boozy warmth.
A deceptively potent pumpkin ale wrapped up in barleywine clothing. The high ABV is pretty well hidden, the pumpkin aspect fairly balanced, and just plain easy drinking for such a rich ale.
Pouring temperature: 41 °F; canning info: CANNED ON AUG/14/23

12oz can. Poured out a slightly cloudy, golden color with amber highlights and a small, thin head. It left minimal lacing. It smelled of pumpkin, nutmeg, toffee and sweet caramel. Subtle pumpkin taste with nutmeg and cinnamon. Nice boozy barleywine finish.

I think I've tried a few pumpkin barleywines and they have been good. No exception here, this works well. I think I can actually taste some gourd here which is nice. The underlying caramel and bourbon definitely shine through and the spicing is nice but a bit less nutmeg or allspice would have suited me. Thanks Dave!
