one of the special releases that made it down to the new sydney for the hops tasting. unfortunately, i couldnt make it then, but lucky for me, its still on tap.
has a look that says "substantial" about it. nearly black with plenty of reddness around the edges. head is thin, frothy, and lightly tanned. head lacked a bit in staying power, but thats my only real gripe about the appearance.
nice aroma. moslty roasted and chocolate malt with little in the way of any noticeable spice or hops. really, if i didnt know it was spiced, i probably wouldnt pick it.
taste is smooth, which is aided by the mouthfeel. very little carbonation. could probably have used a bit more bitterness, but the sweeter, darker malts really shine in this one. hard to pick any spices again, but that doesnt hinder the experience. more spice may have given a bit more depth to it, but thats another beer for another time.
glad i got to try this one. was afraid i missed my chance, but if i see it again, ill easily give it another go. chers to willie simpson and the gang at mildura for trying something different.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
