During the lengthy British colonization of India, English brewers quickly discovered that by adding more hops the beer could survive the voyage; so the strongly hopped India Pale Ale was born. The hops deliver the flowery aroma and intense bitter flavor that last on the palate. This one goes out to everyone who plays on the rocks.

Jasper 22/7 2018. 50 cl on tap on Jasper Brewing’s Brewpub. While waiting for Via Rail (again).
Pours hazy amber with a medium-sized white head. Settles as a thin layer of foam covering the surface of the beer. Crawling up the side of the glass. Substantial lacing.
Aroma is fruity but subdued due to the cold serving temperature. Light sweet exotic fruit. Medium strong sour bitter notes of citrus.
Medium strong carbonation. Thin, watery, lively texture.
Flavor has fairly strong sweetness followed by medium bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter and lingers shortly.
Overall a slightly thin and watery IPA. Get most things right but could use a little intensity.

Draft into pint glass. Pours a nice golden amber with a decent off white head. Initial impression is citrus hops and malt, well balanced and flavorful. Mouthfeel is medium chewy - just about right. Finish is clean and refreshing. Pretty good AIPA.

(draft, Japser Brewing, Jasper AB 7/3/15) The relatively low ABV allowed for 3 pints (actual 16oz pints). This was the only IPA offering from this brewer.
