Honey Bear Golden Ale

Honey Bear pours a bright straw color, with very little head, and was served with a lime. The smell whiles not strong, had hints of honey, and an overall sweetness. The taste had a nice sublte malty flavor, with a nice sweetness from the honey. A lighter beer, but was full bodied. Overall a great example of a blonde ale.

 

 

 

This beer appears a clear light straw colour, with one finger of soapy white head, which leaves some crooked dashes of lace around the glass as it recedes. As it is served with a garnish of fresh lime, it took a few minutes after quickly removing it for the smell of anything but pungent lime to become apparent. The beer smells of mild white cracker grain, and faint table honey. The taste is more light white grain, a more complex field honey essence, and some floral hops. The carbonation is average, the body a bit on the light side, and it finishes pretty much dry, and crisp.

An innocuous, if still well made, honey ale. Lose the lime, folks.

A: Pale blonde pour - not quite a golden or amber, perhaps, but not bad looking. Another reasonably creamy white head, nice retention. Served with a lime. Removed for appearance, but may add a splash if it is the intended serving.

S: A soft and sweet honey and clove. (imagine that, it's a clover honey) Brewed with coriander, which I find to be quite light in the aroma. Lightly toasted malts.

T: Maltiness with a kiss of honey, which lingers for a little while. Caramel notes, fresh clove flavours, the spiciness is a little more apparent in the taste - light, but tasteful.

M + D: Sparkling carbonation, refreshing, Semi-crisp finish. An easy drinker, and a decent summer brew. I'd take this on a day when a hefe might be in order, without complaint. Not too bad at all.
