Every Jasperite knows B-Hill. The B-Hill Pilsner is modeled after the great lagers originally developed in the Czech Republic’s Pilsen region. Brewed with German malts and hops, the brilliant gold-colored B hill Pil starts and ends with a clean hop flavor.

Sutter Hill Pil poured a bright yellow color, with not much head. There was a malty aroma, however weak. The taste was full, and had a nice combintaiton of hops and malts, and nothing else. Good full flavor, that was easy to drink. Overall very enoyable, and full for a Czech pils.

This beer appears a clear medium golden hue, with one finger of soapy white head, which leaves a thin veil of lace around the glass as it falls away. It smells of biscuity white grain, and grassy hops. The taste is more of the white grain, and weedy, lightly skunky hops. The carbonation is moderate, the body medium weighted, and a bit filmy, and it finishes dry, with a weedy/floral hoppiness.

A decent pils, all the right middle European character to fit right into the local mountain culture.

Review from notes taken in late August.

Pale golden colour, with a slight haze. Only a wisp of white head.

Biscuity malt aroma. Light to the nose. I pick up what seems to be a faint hint of butter.

Very clean flavoured, grassy up front with a slight spice to the finish. Faint grain lingers.

Light bodied but not watery. Not as carbonated as expected. Decent mouthfeel.

Not a bad beer, something of a hot weather brew. Much better choice than a macro lager.

served as an 'on-the-house' bonus after an evening of tasting - a special thanks to David, tending that evening. The story was explained to me by a local Jasperite (it is said they all know B. Hill / the story) Formerly known as the "B-Hill Pill" (after Brian Hill). His son Joel had a son of his own - Sutter - and the name was changed. My understanding was that the recipe had basically remained the same, so ABV has been taken from the brewery website for the 'B-Hill Pil'

A: A pale straw, as the style should be... long lasting head, receding to a big sheet left over.

S: Somewhat citrus notes, a slight grassiness. Crisp and clean....

T: A VERY tasty pilsener. Full flavoured - a citrus (lemon, pineapple) taste, along with a slightly sugary sweetness. Perhaps one of the better of the style I've experienced, and a "Proud Canadian" take on the style. Excellent.

M + D: Crisp, a touch of sharp carbonation. Finishes clean and refreshing. This is probably one of the best I've had here - a very well done and well thought out brew, and outstanding for a summer day - though suitable for any time of the year.
