The brilliant, bright yellow beer is crowned by a pure white, thick foamy head. The hoppy, crisp, clean taste delivers on the consumer’s expectation; this is a beer that expresses the master brewer’s years of experience in a traditional recipe.
The Paulaner Pils is brewed strictly in the Pilsener style - with the best Hallertau hops providing its typical bitter aroma. Paulaner beer lovers like to tell each other the anecdote while toasting, according to which the pilsner originally came from Bohemia, but was created by a brewer from Southern Germany. And the Paulaner Pils does justice to that.

A: Pours a crystal clear and bright yellow color. A billowing and fluffy white head rises to over two fingers. That gently recedes after a minute, and leaves some lace behind.
S: A fairly neutral nose. More on the grainy, cereal, bready side. Not a lot of noticeable hops, which isn't a bad thing. Enjoyable enough, even if its not the most aromatic. Though to be fair, that is usually not the styles strong point anyway.
T: Oh, there it is. A nuanced malt character that goes from grains, baked bread, English biscuits and light honey. Just enough sweetness in the middle, until the spicy and grassy hops take over. Just enough bitterness to be noticeable and dry everything out.
M/O: A light body with crisp carbonation at first. That smooths out as this breaths. Wonderfully clean and finishes dry. Oh yeah, I can come back to this with ease.
An excellent Pilsner. That is all I really have to say. One that is really inviting with a surprisingly nuanced malt character, but is always balanced with just the right amount of grassy like hops. Highly recommended.

Going to the opposite end of the beer spectrum, is a pilsner my late friend would have likely appreciated. This is Paulaner Pils, and it is a Bavarian style pilsner clocking in at 4.8% ABV. It pours a transparent gold with a short-lived white head. The malt is front forward in the nose and the flavor. There's not a whole lot of complexity here, but it is a crisp clean pilsner. There is a little bit of a chemical note that is distracting though. The mouthfeel is clean and will not weigh you down.

It was delivered in an Imperial pint glass after being drawn from a tap. The just-off-white white is quite modest. Its color is very lightly and brightly amber with a golden tint. It is practically clear, a menu could be read through it. An aroma typical of a Pilsner greets the nose, with a pleasant balance of bready malt and mild hops. There's that little extra nuttiness that good representatives of this style often provide. That's also the way it tastes; bready sweet, but in an acceptably layered way and mildly hoppy. That little extra nuttiness is somewhere there, too. The mouthfeel runs lightly, but that's the style. There's nearly no glass lacing, but it's not that kind of a beer. Pilsners just can't jolt the taste buds like a Russian Imperial Stout or West Coast IPA, but they certainly can provide an enjoyably refreshing glass, or several, of beer.

500ml can with no obvious date. Served in a CBC stemless tulip (why shouldn't i?). Pours pale straw yellow but forms a load of crispy white head. Really nice crispy flavor, dry, with subtle noble hop flavor. Tastes fresh but not green. Of course, as a German style Pilsner, there's not a lot of malt in the flavor. Excellent execution.

Presentation: 500 mL can poured into a pint glass. Purchased from Total Wine & More.
Look: pale yellow color. 2 finger foam head that lingers. Moderate amount of lacing.
Smell: grassy, malty, and floral hops.
Taste: similar to the smell, grassy, malty, peppery, and a crisp hops aftertaste.
Feel: medium bodied. Creamy and bubbly mouthfeel. Moderate carbonation.
Overall: it’s a good Pilsner. Flavorful and easy to drink. It has that quintessential peppery and hoppy flavor of a Pilsner. I would purchase it again. It is worth trying if you like this style of beer.

On draught at the Yard House.
A slightly opaque straw colored pour with a dense head that produces some stringy lacing.
Lightly toasted earthy Pilsner malt flavor is very good, hints of grassiness, Pleasant Hallertauer hops bitterness and aroma.
A very good Pilsner.

Too hoppy for me. Like over the top well into metallic hoppiness.

It’s a very good beer. Not outstanding.
A bit darker in color than expected.
Clean refreshing malt forward taste (I didn’t detect the degree of hoppiness that many reviewers state).
Recently purchased at a small Arizona town supermarket in pint cans - so that’s a plus
