Enjoying a half liter at Nockherberg on a chilly but sunny Thanksgiving Day. Came here to try some seasonal offerings and was not disappointed. Although at €5,80 in Nov 2023, this is a pricey pint. Flavor/feel is pretty full and rich for a Helles but makes sense for an unfiltered version of the style (Keller/Zwickl). More amber than usual, as well. Quite fruity and floral in both the nose and flavor. Rich malt profile with a tasty finish full of hops and slightly funky yeast. This is an impressive beer. Liquid bread.

Served from a wooden barrel, on gravity ("cask" isn't completely accurate, but its served by gravity without aid of CO2). Only available by the mass (no complaints here) at the Paulaner am Nockherberger biergarten in Munich.

Deep cloudy gold with orangey highlights and a towering crown of white foam.
Perfumed with fresh peaches, spicy and herbal hops, and cereal grains.
Opens with spicy, herbal (thyme?), fruity (peach?) hops, with bready malts and cereal in the middle, giving way to more hops. A mildly bready note lingers in a long, long finish.
Medium bodied, with a mild creaminess.
Very drinkable - one sip begs another. Overall, a fine kellerbier; though its made by the giant Paulaner, it has the character of a fine, artisanal lager. Compare this to the zwickl at the Paulaner Brauhaus in Munich and see which you like more - both are excellent but in very different styles.
