A: dark ruby brown lager, two fingers of tan head
S: mild fruits like dates and raisins, dark brown breads and molasses-sweetened malts
T: nice mellow fruits up front, modest spice and brighter fruit impressions; mildly sweet like watery molasses
M: medium-light, smooth and soft, barely perceptible carbonation
O: a well-crafted doppelbock that hits the marks you'd want from the style - a good frame-of-reference beer, and for fans of the style, no doubt a solid go-to lager

Lightly hazy orange-amber with a khaki foam head of moderate height.
Buttery caramel meets a leafy, bitterly herbal finish.
This is crisp yet substantial.

This has always been too sweet for my taste. It’s a really well made and very distinctive but it’s just a little too syrupy. I don’t get any hops on the finish. It’s all Carmel.

Ruby brown with hardly much head at all. Aroma is caramel and bread crust. Taste is a lot of caramel, molasses, and some spicy hops in the finish. Body is medium and fairly flat with a kind of oily feel.
I haven't had this in years. I used to love it; I still like it, but the lack carbonation keeps this from being an excellent beer.

caramel and bready malt and a hint of vanilla; balanced by a slightly bitter, boozy finish.

Paulaner Salvator
Poured from bottle into a goblet glass.
Super excited to try this one, relatively rare to find where I’m from.
Look: Copper-orange, dark orangey hue. Poured a nice head that dissipated quickly to about a half-finger layer covering the beer. Most likley the fault of the bottle. I would expect it to look better on tap.
Aroma: Sweet, lovely pleasant malty sweetness. Ever so slightly boozy. Yeasty, doughy, bready like sugary dough. Very slight notes of vinous dark fruit.
Taste: Starts sweet and malty with slight notes of honey. Finishes nicely bitter, with a slightly boozy alcohol taste on the finish.
Mouthfeel: Not very carbonated, though I didn’t really expect a lot for this style. Medium body. Slightly warming.
Overall: Very pleasant beer overall. Lovely sweet aroma malty, caramely, with touches of honey. Nice bitter finish keeps it from being thin. I would definitely have it again. Pretty refined flavors, nothing overly forward on the palate.
Main takeaways: sweet with a bitter finish, not cloying, smooth. You wouldn’t really tell it’s almost 8% ABV. Very good beer tasty and easy drinking.

From a bottle poured into a goblet.
A medium mahogany colored pour.
Unfortunately the server did a slow pour, so zero head/lacing.
Malty nose and flavor, nicely caramelized, moderate bitterness, slightly boozy.
Smooth and enjoyable.

Im not a man for bitter beers, nor am I a man that likes high ABV's, but this was nice and drinkable. I could taste the alcohol alongside the bitter flavor, which while I normally wouldn't like was offset by how smooth it went down.
Not my personal favorite, but defenitley a good brew for those who like bitter beer.
