Cloudy orange-tan color. Poured a medium head that collapsed to a thin skiff after a minute. Too cloudy to see the carbonation level, but there were lots of bubbles forming on the glass. Strings of lacing that slid back into the glass in a couple of seconds.
Sweet malty smell with a strong yeast and some old banana. Something there is reminding me of a dark Christmas cake. Swirling the glass kicked up a bit of horseblanket for only a couple of seconds.
The flavor is much milder than the scent led me to expect. Light roasted malt and some yeast. There is a saltine cracker (without the salt) that kicks in after several seconds. Very light banana. Stronger banana and yeast pop out in the aftertaste. This is much like a North American Märzen.
Turns into a creamy foam with some coarser bubbles providing texture. Just a bit of tongue tingling. Slightly oily.
This was much better than I expected. Travelling half way around the world in a can preserved it much better than a bottle. I may start drinking lighter European beers again if they are in cans.
