I added this beer and placed it in the barley wine category based on the flavor. This is advertised as a barrel aged Imperial. Imperial what was not clear, perhaps an Imperial brown?
Small head that settles to nearly no remaining bubbles. Very few spots for lace. Brown color and clear.
Rich, stewed raisin aroma -- sweet and a tad bit of alcohol.
Very much a brandy like beer: loss of malted sugars, alcohol warmth and very little carbonation. The finish does bring forth a strong, but balancing, hop bitterness. Long, warming alcohol aftertaste. Definitely a sipping beer.
