Moderate head but it leaves plenty of spots on the glass. The color is a light brown and appears to be nearly clear.

Muddy water aroma (earthy). Some caramel but no sweetness.

Thin bodied with a taste that reminds me of autumn, a bit like dried leaves. Dry crystal malt finish and a surprisingly hoppy aftertaste.

On-tap at Ragged Point Inn and Resort, Ragged Point, CA

A: The beer is somewhat hazy reddish amber in color and has a light to moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a quarter finger high beige head that left a large patch of bubbles on the surface and some lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of sweet toasted malts are present in the nose along with a bit of roasted malts.
T: The taste follows the smell and has flavors of toasted malts with notes of caramel and hints of earthiness. There is a light to moderate amount of bitterness.
M: It feels medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer shares some qualities of an Irish Red Ale.

Serving type: on-tap

Really flat tasting. Thin and watery. Weird smell. Not bad but would not have it again

On tap at SLO Brewing Company in San Luis Obispo, CA.

Pours a clear orange-red with a foamy beige head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of toasted malt, caramel, and some slightly nutty aromas. Taste is much the same with a mild hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer that is drinkable but pretty basic.

Appearance: Appeared to be dark cherry red, however it was very dark and hard to tell really. Medium-sized white head sat on top and took a whiile to dissolve.

Smell: Sweet malts and not much else.

Taste: Overly sweet and syrupy. Little or no hop presence. Tasted of maple syrup, cherries, red apples, and cake. The most "girly" amber I've ever had.

Mouthfeel: Again, syrupy. Aftertaste is mild with a sweet malty taste.

Drinkability: This beer was brewed for the Cal Poly students who want a step up from the Keystone/Natty Light that they're used to. Smooth, sugary, and cheap ($4 for a pitcher on Tuesdays!) may appeal to most, but not this BA.

EDIT (11-01-2009): After tasting this on several other occasions, I must say that it's really not that bad. The recipe seems to have changed greatly since the first time I had it, and the beer now tastes more like an average amber than a sugary mess. Scores have been adjusted.
