Onto Macedonia. I have been visiting this small Balkan country for years because that's where my wife is from. Their most famous beer is Skopsko, a typical euro pale lager. They have now added a cold filtered version, and at .5% less ABV called Skopsko Smooth.
It pours a pale straw color with a moderate foam head that retains well. The carbonation is visible and the beer is crystal clear.
Aromas of grass and very light touches of pale malt. The taste is very clean, indeed quite smooth and light bodied. A light grassy hops touch in the finish. The palate is dry overall.
I think I like this one better than original Skopsko in that it smooths out some of the rough edges. Unremarkable overall, yet, in the midst of this horrible heat wave, it hit the spot.
