this is really good, hands down the best of the beers i have had from these guys to date, the coffee in it is fresh and excellent, and it is really boldly dosed. the base porter is smooth, on the dry side, and deep with malt layers, impressively put together overall, a higher level of quality here than i remember in their other beers. cool to find this one on tap, it has a dark brown color to it, well short of black, almost cola toned in the light, with a high tan head on it that lasts the whole drink. the coffee has notes of dark chocolate, leather, and raisin to it, very low bitterness and no acidity at all from it either, it really is strong here, well ahead of even the darkest roasted barley. toffee and caramel sweetness rise up in the middle, a hint of hazelnut comes out of the java as it warms a little, and there is a subtle yeast thing here too, maybe loosely english, that adds complexity and serves as a bridge between the base beer and the coffee. i really like this, think the proportions are awesome, and am impressed by the coffee itself, delicious in here. lighter bodied for the style but still feeling kind of creamy, good carbonation, pleasant warming coffee vibes hang on the palate long after each sip. wintery and cozy and very well made!

I had this beer on-tap in a pint glass at the Missoula taproom.
Appearance: rich deep brown with plenty of haze and a finger of frothy tan foam. I dig it.
Smell: nicely roasty with plenty of sweetness and a dash of coffee. Nice.
Taste: coffee porter well done. Roasty and caramelly elements with just enough coffee to be interesting. I dig it.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a good carbonation and creaminess. I dig it.
Overall: a good coffee porter. I could drink a few of these.
