from a 6-pack picked up at the source
12oz can poured into a pint glass
P deep caramel color w/ burgundy hues; 1f light tan head; good retention
N light-med; toasted malts and some yeastiness
T follows nose w/ lots of smooth, sweet toasted malts; some light fruitiness as well (plums?); simple and tasty
Mf med-bodied w/ soft-med to med carb
O a pleasant, easy-drinking brown; nothing mind-blowing, but would have again

Poured from a can bought in Montana.
A - Beautiful dark copper color, almost opaque in the middle of the glass. Got a half inch cream colored head, nice lacing during the sampling.
S - At first you notice a bit of caramel and malts. After it warmed a bit you can get a little toffee and sweetness.
T - initial burst of hops is surprising and unwanted, and the carbonation seems a bit excessive. Malty finish and as the beer warmed and lost some carbonation it got much better. Vanilla becomes more pronounced.
M - Not bad, but too much carbonation ruins the initial taste/feel. Finishes kinda dry.
O - This is a pretty good brown ale. Tastes much better the nearer it gets to room temperature. First beer I've had from Flathead BC, and will try others. Wish it was hopped much less which would round out the flavor quite a bit. I guess it's just a victim of the IPA craze bleeding into other styles. Overall, a decent beer.

At first glance this brew appears perfectly opaque - this is misleading. It is a very, very deep russet. No real head or lacing to speak of but the colour is genuinely beautiful.
Flavor wise, it's thick and light molasses and very light hops and thick and smooth and has a light toffee flavor.
Very very good.

Cracked open a can I picked up at the brewery. It has the fruit of a southern English brown ale, but ramped up like most American takes on British ales. Nutty, toffee malts roll in after cherry esters. And there's a light, dry finish. Great brown ale, check it out if you can.
