Penn Foggy Goggle

A. Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a pint glass. Clear light yellow with a bit of head that recedes to a fine layer of lace.

S. Euro noble hops, some malt.

T. This light lager has some crystal malt presence accented by some earthy hops.

M. Light and refreshing. What an American light beer should be.

O. Overall, this is just rebranded Penn Gold, but hey, its a pretty good concept.

12oz bottle poured into a tulip.

A - Pours a very pale straw color, very light and hazy. On top rests a snowy white head, quite apt for the name and label for this beer. Retention is pretty low. There is almost no lacing to be seen.

S - Smells of pilsner malts, slight fruit, and grain. Fairly bready.

T - Taste is pretty mild and full of malts. A little bit of fruit, and a nice hop character on this finish. Not a lot going on here and not incredibly tasty, but clean tasting.

M - Mouthfeel is moderately light-bodied with pretty low carbonation. Doesn't leave much of a reminder after its gone.

D - Drinkability is low. A disappointment from Penn Brewing and pretty much an alternative to BMC when drinking at the Foggy Goggle at 7 Springs. I actually had this for the first time while I was on the mountain and was unimpressed with it then. If drinking at the Foggy Goggle, save the cash and drink the BMC.

Bottle into Great Lakes pint glass.

Very bright and sunny golden color with a nice white foamy head on it.

Fresh and clean beery, bready smell.

Delicious. Malts up front with hops in the back and finish.

Refreshing and crisp. Very clean.

A really good all around beer. Would definitely drink again. Penn Brewery delivers the goods.

Wow, Penn is back...crisp perfect lager worthy of their famous brewing tradition. This one in particular looks rather generic, available in their new mixed 12 pack. Brewed for Seven Spring's pub with the same name. Aroma light delicate cereal notes with a finishing herbal grassy Hallertau presence. No off flavors clean citric/herbal hops in a light two row straight forward cereal grain maltiness giving this beer it's gusto. Thank God, all is well in the world of Penn Brewing there had been some CO2 issues and problems with their caps, but it looks like these issues are being resolved. Mouthfeel is light bodied ample carbonation, maybe a hair lighter than the Penn Gold but in the same nature. Awesome, beer that adds to the lineup can't wait to try more newly bottled offerings the newest sampler has Penn Marzen, Penn Pilsner, Penn Kaiser Pils, and this Foggy Goggle Lager.
